Jupiter

Updated: May 16, 2021

You may think Jupiter is beautiful from space. But, if you are inside Jupiter, not exactly. Let us pretend you are inside Jupiter. Although you can’t land on the surface, since it is made out of gas, you have to do something else. In fact, you wouldn’t make it with a standard space suit, since when you are about 300,000 kilometers away from Jupiter. The radiation will penetrate your suit. That means you will die. But, what if you get a special space suit? Since Jupiter is bigger and gravity is stronger, you would fall faster than you do on Earth. You would fall at about 180,000 miles per hour and still going. At 250 kilometers down, you will find the ammonia clouds. Jupiters winds go about 500 miles per hour. It’s like you are in a giant colorful tornado since it is the fastest rotating planet in the solar system. The record for a probe diving into Jupiter is 370 miles before it was destroyed by pressure. It will get darker the further you travel until it’s pitch black. Only the lighting is there for light. Then the temperature will start to increase and it could be comfortable for you. The problem is the pressure. The pressure is 1,000 times higher than on earth. Your suit will have to be as strong as the deepest diving submarine. You have been falling for a long time like about 12 hours. Sadly, you can’t call anyone because radio waves can’t escape Jupiter. The heat and pressure will keep rising. There is a substance that you can swim through that is not a liquid or a gas. It’s called supercritical fluid. The temperature will be hotter while moving through this strange material. After, a period of time the temperature will equal to The Sun. Also, the pressure will be 2 million times higher than Earth’s surface pressure. Also, metallic hydrogen will begin to form and there will be a lot. This dense and unknown substance will be impossible to escape from. Even, if you escape from it you will go to the core, which could be a solid object. Some scientists predict it is because of the immense pressure in the planet. The core is about 43,000 degrees and with lots and lots of pressure. Even if you survive, you can’t get back home because of the pressure. A pretty useless trip that is not very rewarding. You may think Jupiter doesn’t have moons, but Jupiter has 79 moons! The four Galilean moons are Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto
