What is the brightest thing in the night sky? The Moon of course! Actually, The Moon is one of the non brightest things in space. If you look at Earth from The Moon, Earth will look much brighter because water and ice reflect more light than most types of rock. The Moon looks beautiful from Earth, but it is very old. About 4.5 billion years old. When The Earth was young, a Mars-sized planet called Theia collided at a certain angle. The rock formed two moons. One is a big Moon which is the Moon today and a small moon about 750 miles across. The Moons orbited Earth and eventually, the small Moon crashed into The Moon leaving one moon remaining. You may ask why is The Moon useful. The Moon makes the day 24 hours today and this is also why there is high tide and low tide. Also, The Moon stops a giant Tsunami happening because The Sun and Moon are pulling on Earth’s water using their gravity. Sadly, The Moon is moving away from Earth, but it would not have a drastic effect on humanity. This is why the day was closer to 21 hours in the time of dinosaurs. This means that one day, the day will be as long as the martian day. As you might know, The Earth and The Moon are very related because they have quakes because of Earth's gravity. The Moonquakes are very weak. The Moon has quakes by Earth’s gravity. They both have lots of craters. They both have water. But, there is more water in the Sahara Desert than The Moon. Both of their cores are becoming colder. You may think I forgot the many people landed on the moon, but actually, I did not. The first is Neil Armstrong. he said on The Moon for real “ One small step for the man, one big step for mankind!” Don’t you think The Moon is interesting? Stay tuned for my next Blog!
